Merry Christmas 2016

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a completely wonderful and magical holiday season. We really reined it in this year and kept Christmas and New Years Eve extremely low-key. We were of course so excited to celebrate Reagan’s first Christmas and New Years, and did manage to play up the holiday season just a bit and make it as special as possible for the little lady.

We went to my in-laws house for Christmas and had so much fun enjoying all the festive activities. It went by in a blur and once again I am so thankful I was busy snapping pics and video left and right.  I know it can get a little annoying until you check out all the adorable footage I manage to capture.

We arrived close to Christmas Eve and Miss Reagan did very well in the car. She is such a good little traveler and we had excellent weather which was a huge relief.  We were packed to the brim with presents, luggage, and baby gear and thank goodness we managed to arrive in one piece. We spent Christmas Eve with family, just hanging out enjoying each other and all the cuteness that Miss Reagan provides. We had a delicious prime rib dinner and Reagan enjoyed her first ever taste of mashed potatoes. She was in heaven.  We spent lots of quality time with Jeffrey’s grandparents and were able to do our annual Christmas Eve Pajama tradition in person this year.  Santa got extra excited this year and included the guys for the first time. Rumor has it, they are enjoying the xmas jammies even more then we do each year.img_8401

Every year I have so much fun picking out the coziest pajamas for us to wear on Christmas Eve. I usually go with Gap or Old Navy because they are always on SALE and are the softest, warmest, and long lasting. This year, I was obsessed with anything in red and black buffalo plaid prints and Reagan even got in on the action. She ended up wearing a pair of boys pajamas, but what the heck, it turned out sooooooo cute. She can pretty much rock anything.  Throw on a little red flower headband and she was ready to go for pics. Clearly we have way TOO MANY dogs…

img_8464Miss Reagan was way out of her normal routine and that of course means her sleep schedule was out of whack as well. She woke up at 4am on Christmas Eve and didn’t want to go to bed one bit. The child barely napped to add to the fun. It was way too exciting knowing that Santa was coming and that there was a pile of presents with her name on them. One of our Santa’s fell asleep very early because he was the one who woke up at 4am with her.xmasimg_8414Christmas morning was completely MAGICAL!!!! With the one exception of a certain little christmas elf waking up at 5am.  This time it was my turn to hang out with her, so we watched The Christmas Story on TBS and cuddled on the couch.  Eventually the rest of the family woke up and we enjoyed a nice breakfast together before heading into the living room to open gifts.  I wasn’t sure what Reagan was going to think of all the gifts and had to majorly “check” my mom expectations before we got started. She is after all, only 10 months old and doesn’t really understand what is going on.  After a quick photo of our first Christmas as a family of three, we let Reagan have at it opening presents and tearing wrapping paper. This was clearly the most interesting part for her, but her little face did light up at a few different toys including the best ever giant stuffed giraffe that Santa left for her. img_8421img_8432img_8436img_8444

She got everything on her wish list, including a few extras, and Mommy and Daddy were very spoiled as well. I’m already super excited for next Christmas when she will understand what is going on a bit more.  But I really tried to remain present in each moment and soak up every second of her first Christmas as a sweet little baby. Next year will be so different, she will practically be a little girl already, and I am so grateful for this year and everything we have been blessed with, especially her cute little face.

Overall, it was a wonderful Christmas filled with relaxation, family, tons of dogs, buffalo plaid everything, and way too much food. Christmas Day was all about recovering and just spending as much time together as a family. I currently still have my decorations and tree up, and am sorta dreading/can’t wait to take everything down. It feels so daunting right now but I know i’ll love the clean empty look of our house for the New Year.

I am so NOT ready for 2017 but need to get my “ish” together because it has arrived.

Merry “late” Christmas FRIENDS!!!!!

Christmas Gift Guide for Baby

I think it goes without saying but little Reagan Marie has been a very good girl this year. I have a sneaking suspicion that Santa is going to be very good to her. I decided to put together a little gift guide with some of the ideas I found for Miss Reagan. Being that this is her first Christmas, we are just so excited to see her little face light up when she gets all her goodies.  She will most likely be totally pumped about the wrapping paper, bows, and nothing else. We decided to go with the easy “something to WEAR, something to READ, something you WANT, and something you NEED” formula for her gifts. She is in desperate need of a winter coat and slippers, is always down for books and new toys, and mommy kinda WANTED her to have to cutest little elf slippers i’ve ever seen.  This age is so much fun to shop for but a little tricky at the same time.  We went easy on the toys and aimed for mostly useful items that we can use over and over.  She is getting bored of her baby toys so having a few new things around will be great for her and we were in desperate need of a few new bath toys to keep her occupied and entertained.

And in the parental department I like to think we’ve been very good “kids” as well. You’re never too old to believe in Santa and you gotta be GOOD to earn that visit from the Big guy!!! Here are a few things that are on our adult wish list this year…

screen-shot-2016-12-07-at-9-07-22-pm

FOR MOMMY:

Canon Rebel T6i     FitBit Charge 2     Threshold Izon Silverware Collection

Anthropologie Latte Bowls     Ceramic Berry Basket

FOR DADDY:

Philips Sonicare Toothbrush     Nike Men’s Metcon 2 CrossFit shoes     Kindle Fire

Lulu Lemon Gift Cards     Underarmour Men’s Athletic Gear

These Santa’s Elves are completely FINISHED with their Christmas shopping and are so grateful for Black Friday deals and online shopping.  The stockings are hung, the halls have been decked, and we are just so excited for all the festive FUN! Now we need to hit the hill for some sledding in the SNOW and I can’t wait to bake Christmas cookies with Reagan for the first time.  I’ve been waiting for our first Christmas with kids since the day I found out I was pregnant and have been playing Holiday music since the day after Halloween. Bring on all things Christmas and Festive!!!!!

Baby Haguewood – 28 Weeks

Who is ready for a little Christmas 2015 flashback…because well…i’m just that far behind on my pregnancy posts. So Cheers to Christmas 2015…in January! Go figure…

28 Weeks - Website

“Tis the Season to be Preggers!!!!!”

28 Weeks Christmas - Website

MERRY CHRISTMAS

How far along? 28 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: +18lbs.

Maternity clothes? Yep

Stretch marks? Nope.

Sleep: Struggling…but that might just be from all the fun Christmas excitement.  This time of year is so exciting and cheery!

Best moment this week: We got absolutely spoiled this Christmas and so did the baby! It was amazing and so much fun unwrapping all the goodies for the baby. I can’t wait for next year when we’ll have our little bear with us finally!

Have you told family and friends? Yep!

Worst moment this week: Realizing the holidays are almost over! Double edged sword for me…I love the holidays but am so ready to meet our little gummy bear! And i’m scared shitless at the same time. YIKES! So many emotions and hormones playing into this. HAHA.

Miss Anything? I really missed having some yummy mimosas on Christmas morning! I did make our traditional Christmas morning quiche but it didn’t feel the same this year…I am literally bouncing off the walls thinking about how much fun next year is going to be with the baby!

Movement: My belly is moving around so much.  I’ll watch it rolling and it looks just like Santa’s belly moving around like a bowl full of jelly! 🙂

Food cravings: Nothing this week but super excited for Christmas Cookie exchanges and all the yummy holiday treats!!!!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Feeling GREAT!!!!

Symptoms: Not sure if baby is upside down or what the heck is going on in there but I keep feeling big jabs into my rib cage.  Sometimes it feels more like pressure coming up which makes me think it might be a little head or bottom and other times I know Baby H is kicking away right under my ribs.  If I completely open my torso up and give the little baby some extra room everything goes away.  The sensation cracks me up and makes me wonder what is GOING ON IN THERE! 🙂

Have you started to show yet: YEP

Gender prediction: BOY!!!

Labor Signs: Nada

Belly Button in or out? OUT

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time: BEYOND HAPPY AT THIS POINT!!!

Looking forward to: New Years Eve, My Birthday, 2016 “Baby’s Birth Year”, and my Baby Shower which is in a few weeks! YIPPEEEEEEEE!

And to round out my Christmas Post here are a few photos from Christmas morning AND a photo of the Christmas Card design I did this year which was also the inspiration for my chalkboard this week.

Twas’ a very Merry Christmas – Part Three

I spent most of Christmas Eve finishing up my cookie boxes and prepping some food for Christmas Day!!!! The hubby worked for most of the day and then we enjoyed a nice dinner together and watched some Christmas movies.

And finally…Christmas Day arrived.  After weeks of prep the day always flies by, so we spent most of the day soaking up all the fun and enjoying our time together.

We started our morning seeing what “Santa” brought us aka what santa brought the girly puppies.  I swear, they are more spoiled every year then we are…as it should be HAHA!!!

IMG_6555

IMG_6557

It was absolutely magical and we had so much fun.  We were able to Skype with my in-laws while opening presents, and it was so nice to share in the fun and chat with them on Christmas Day. The girly puppies were so exhausted after all the Christmas fun and had a little cuddle-sesh with all their new toys…so spoiled.

IMG_6559

This year I tried a new recipe from a good friend, and made some yummy and healthy quiches for Christmas morning.  The hubby LOVED them and i’ve already made them again since.  I, on the other hand, enjoyed some yummy mimosas while we opened presents.  A Christmas tradition for us…and so yummy!!!!

IMG_6556

We had such a magical morning and then it was off to my parents house for Christmas Dinner with the whole family.  We arrived a little early and opened some gifts with my family before guests arrived.  We enjoyed a relaxing night chatting with family followed by an amazing Prime Rib dinner…sooooo good!!!!

IMG_1498

My cute parents…love them!!!!

IMG_1501

IMG_1504

IMG_1506

We had such a blast! Given that this will most likely be our last Christmas with the just the two of us, we really tried to enjoy our time together before Little Baby Haguewood comes along at some point!!!

I was also super excited to include my mom in a fun tradition this year for the first time.  Not quite sure exactly how this tradition came about, it just sorta happened, and has been a FUN part of our Christmas ever sense.  The first year Jeffrey and I were dating/engaged, I bought the most adorable Christmas PJ’s for his mom and sister.  Every year sense I have given them Christmas Eve Pajamas that are beyond comfy and cozy!!! It has been so much fun looking back at all the pictures and remembering each Christmas and the endless family memories!!! This year I decide to include my mom in the fun and someday…SOMEDAY…if we have a little baby girl the 3 of us can match!!!  It is such a silly little tradition but I truly enjoy shopping for the cute pajamas each year.  Here is a peak at the last few years…

And that is officially ALL there is for our Christmas!!! We truly were spoiled beyond belief and had so much FUN hanging out with all our family and friends!!! Not quite sure where we will be next Christmas but I am already excited and can’t wait.  When I took down all our xmas decor on New Years Day I was quite sad but completely ready to embrace 2015 and all the FUN & JOY that is sure to happen!!! I can’t wait!!! Thank you for bearing with me as I blog about our Christmas in January…we just had so much fun that I couldn’t NOT include all the details!!!!

I hope everyone had an AMAZING weekend!!! I was crazy busy with a BIG bridal fair and had such a blast helping the sweetest of brides all weekend long. It was glorious!!!!

As always, THANK YOU SO MUCH, for reading!

Twas’ a very Merry Christmas – Part Two “My Christmas Cookies & Recipes”

The few days leading up to Christmas I was one busy and slightly crazy lady running around wrapping up last minute gifts and putting together some tasty Christmas Cookie boxes for friends and family!!!! I was up at the crack of dawn busting out these goodies and stayed up way past my bedtime finishing everything.

First up I made copycat Starbucks Cranberry Bliss Cookies. I opted for the cookies instead of the bars, but with a few easy modifications to the recipe the bars could be easily achieved.  To download the whole recipe click Cranberry Bliss Cookies.

Next up the most AMAZING and yummy Chocolate, Caramel, and Peanut Butter Rice Krispy Treats!! These were so easy to make and and beyond tasty.  To download the whole recipe click Chocolate Rice Krispy Treats!

Perfect M&M Cookies were definitely a TREAT!!! Click Perfect M&M Cookies to download the recipe!!!

These yummy Raspberry Almond Shortbread Cookies were probably one of my all-time favorite cookies this year.  They were super easy to make and are soon delicious!!! Click Raspberry Almond Shortbread Cookies to download the recipe.

And last I decided to include the classic Peanut Butter Blossom cookie! Always a staple and a favorite of many of our family and friends! Click Peanut Butter Blossoms to download the recipe.  I opted to use Hersey Hugs instead of the classic Kiss.

Peanut Butter Blossoms

I had such a blast making all these goodies.  I will be 100% honest however, these goodies were a TON of work.  I was pooped by the end and had pretty much exhausted my stack of Christmas DVDs.  They are wonderful for an inexpensive gift for coworkers and family though.

If you have any questions regrading the recipes or trouble downloading them, let me know and I can email you the recipe directly!!! Any of these recipes could be modified for different holidays or used as is.

Enjoy friends,

Twas’ a very Merry Christmas – Part One

This post is definitely a bit tardy, sorry friends, but we had such a lovely Christmas this past year!!! We were absolutely spoiled in every way and are so incredibly thankful that we were able to spend time with both sets of parents this year!!! The tough thing about getting married is that you have to learn to share holidays and create new sets of traditions apart from old family traditions. It has been so much fun setting up new ways to celebrate the holidays!!! I know it will only get better when we decide to have a Little Baby Haguewood!!!!

We kicked off the Holiday season with family pictures at the beginning of December.  One of my all-time favorite things to do around the holidays are Christmas Cards.  I go all out and absolutely love designing them and doing a fun FUN & CREATIVE design on the envelope for all our friends and family. We’ve always taken our own photos and I was really happy with how our 2014 Christmas Card turned out.

My husbands family came into town the week before Christmas to celebrate my beautiful sister-in-laws birthday and to hang out before the holidays. It was so wonderful to see everyone and to get all the “Haguewood Golden Retrievers” together.  We now have 4 total, and we definitely had a full house.

A Very Merry Christmas Day

Christmas Day came and went rather quickly this year.  December is such a whirlwind of activity, projects and planning for me!  I barely remember it at all to be completely honest. With the addition of the Roxie puppy, we had an extra special Christmas this year.  It definitely is one for the books!!!  After a fun Christmas Eve dinner with the family we all curled up and watched Miracle on 34th Street!!! Definitely on my top 10 Christmas movies of all time list. We all slept rather restlessly, as always, and then it was time for Christmas morning!!!!

We enjoyed a yummy Paleo Christmas Breakfast prepared by Jessie, my sister in law!!! Our fantastic breakfast was completed with Mimosas and REAL bacon!!! SOOOOO GOOD and not something we are used to indulging in very often. Yummmmy!!!!

xmas 16

Next came a crazy frenzy of wrapping paper and awesome presents from Santa 😉 We were completely spoiled this year and somehow our “small” Christmas turned into a BIG Christmas right before our eyes.  The biggest gift was being able to spend time with our family and friends!!! The dogs were spoiled more than anyone else this year.  It was so much fun to see Roxie tucked under the Christmas tree chasing kitties.  And at one point we couldn’t see the dogs at all as they were covered with wrapping paper.

xmas 19

xmas 20

We all needed some serious down time after presents.  There is something about waking up early and enjoying the hustle and bustle of Christmas Morning that wipes one out.

While I enjoyed my Christmas socks and watched the puppies play, Jeffrey took a little snooze with the kitties!

It was a very Seahawks Christmas this year and we were decked out in our gear most of the day! We decided to get each other Seahawks Jerseys for Christmas and we LOVED them and representing our team.  We are HUGE SEAHAWKS fans!!! Go Russell Wilson!!!

xmas 31

After nap time we took the puppies to the dog park so they could burn off some energy! Watching them all run and run was beyond adorable.  Roxie was not super interested in the other dogs and was busy exploring.  This was her first time out and about as we just wrapped up all her puppy shots.  She is now officially out of quarantine.

A Very Christmasy Recap

Woo Hoo… is anyone else coming off a total Christmas/New Years high, whirlwind and depression all  rolled up into one???

I had all these big, huge and completely elaborate plans to blog over the holidays and track each and every minute of the Christmasy goodness, but alas I decided to take a step back and embrace the moment instead.  I’m a serious over thinker and I tend to build up all these massive expectations in my mind, and then i’m terribly let down when they don’t materialize.  Early in the month, leading up to the holidays, I noticed myself sinking into my old patterns of thought and creating to do lists that were a mile long.  I’m sure many moms and new wives can relate to this pattern of thinking.  There is something about creating a beautiful and warm holiday for my family that is ingrained in me as a woman. I can’t seem to let go of the holiday obsession.  I absolutely love the holidays and there is nothing wrong with that, but I want to be able to sit back, relax and ENJOY my holidays instead of running around like a crazy santa’s elf. This year I had to completely flip the switch OFF and just go with anything that happened.  I’ve been holding on too tight and not embracing my life and all the beautiful things happening around me.

With the new year upon us, i’ve been doing some self evaluation and serious inwardly focused thinking.  Like many others all over the world, I weighed back and forth on whether or not to do resolutions this year.  I am working on a New Years post and will let you know what I’ve decided.

So, in lue of my normal crazy Christmas-recap self, I’ve decided to focus on all the fun and happy things that happened over our holiday.  Instead of going crazy about possessions, decorations and wrapping paper, I want to focus on all the wonderful memories we made as a family.  Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED all the decorations and wrapping paper and even attached cute little chalkboard ornaments to all my gifts as name labels. But again…that is a lot of pressure, and I’m the one creating all the chaos.  I want to remember & enjoy all the beautiful memories I made with my husband and family!!!!!

We spent a wonderful night with my parents before we headed across the state to visit my husband’s parents for Christmas.  We needed to have our own little Mini-Christmas celebration and squeeze in as much as we possibly could.  Being married is sooooooooo wonderful but you have to learn to give and take when it comes to families & holidays.  You can never make everyone 100% happy and we do the best we can.  My family was absolutely fantastic and we loved hanging out with my parents and the puppies!!!! Santa brought the babies some new beds for Christmas this year and they are seriously BIG enough for us all the lay in them together as one big happy family!!!! The babies have thoroughly been enjoying them to the fullest.

photo 2

photo 1

My hubby and I had some quality time together in the car while we drove across the state to see his parents and family for Christmas this year.  I was a busy little bee working until 5pm, followed by him loading up the car with the puppies and off we went.  Six and a half hours later we arrived in the wee hours of the morning and watched a total puppy frenzy in full swing.  We had a little golden retriever reunion with Jeff’s parents dog, Harley, who is 10 months old.  I have to be completely honest and admit that most of our trip home revolved around them. Strangely, we were all totally cool with that.  We had a blast watching them play and play!!!!

xmas 12

Can you see how absolutely ADORABLE these guys are??? We had so much fun enjoying the Christmas holiday with these 3 girly puppies!!!

We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Eve night with the whole family and had an amazing Prime Rib dinner. Yum!!!

We ate, played with the puppies and squeezed every minute out of our time together.

Christmas Prep is in Full Swing

This Santa’s Elf has been soooo busy the last few weeks.  Between Christmas cards and prepping for the holiday season, i’m afraid blogging has been on the bottom of my list.  But i’m excited to announce that I am all finished!!!! Woo Hoo!!! I always over do it around Christmas time and think that I can complete my “To Do List” with time to spare…NOT!!! The last few weeks i’ve been running around like a nutcracker, only slightly more nutty, doing shopping and all things Christmasy!!! My sweet hubby was out of town and I was left to man the Haguewood Zoo.  Including a communial visit to the vet with a $600 bill at the end. Gulp…I love my animals, I love my animals, I love my animals!!!!

Communial Vet Visit 2013

The good news is that I had some quality alone time with my Christmas Cards and was able to make them extra special & christmasy this year!!! I love my christmas cards and it was a pain in the ass SO MUCH FUN to hand address every…single…one…of them.  It really was a blast although next year I need to choose a less elaborate design!!! My little fingers were numb and cramping so bad.  I’m a firm believer that Christmas CHEER is contagious and if I brought even one smile to someone’s face then my work is done!!!!

christmas cards 2013

christmas cards #2 2013

Even Santa and Mrs. Claus will get a card this year!!! Did you know North Pole City is a REAL PLACE in Alaska!!! My christmas loving  heart just flipped in my chest when I saw that.  Can’t wait for little kiddos to write letters to Santa.  If you have kids they will actually write you back and everything!!!! YAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!!

Well our christmas lists are finalized, Santa shopping is done, and gifts are wrapped safely under our tree! We opted for a “small” christmas this year and chose to donate money to a local animal shelter instead!!!! I saved little kitty babies and my heart is happy!!! Its so important to remember the Reason for the Season!!!!

christmas gifts 2013

I believe I have watched every single Christmas movie I own for the hundredth time and Christmas Vacation is permanently stuck at the top of my Instant Netflix account…strangely, I’m totally ok with that.

I whipped up a batch of yummy yummy Christmas Sugar Cookies last night and got to work frosting them today!!!! I always love the idea of making cookies, but there is something about sitting there frosting all of them that makes me want to pull my hair out!!!! I was going to go for homemade this year, but saw a gigantic bag of Krusteaz cookie mix at Costco and it was in my cart before I knew what happened.  I’m not a huge fan of all the preservatives/fillers etc. that are in this mix, but my exhaustion level was winning more then my holiday spirit last night!!!

COOKIES 1

I love decorating cookies but get so bored after doing say 3 of them!!!! I decided to go with little festive trees because it was an easy 1-2-3 (bake, frost, sprinkle) method that kept my lovely locks intact this year.  Last year I made little ones that said HO HO HO and they were decorated like candy canes.  My hair took a beating last year for sure!!!

My husband likes to tease, with love, me that I can only cook/bake something if I have a recipe to follow.  And 90% of the time he is CORRECT!!! But I invented my own little frosting recipe and it turned out AWESOME!!! I love cream cheese frosting that is whipped but needed it to be a little lighter for the cookies.  Here is my slam dunk recipe for Whipped Cream Cheese Frosting!!!! Yum…as I eat  my 10th sugar cookie.  Just Kidding…but maybe not!
