Seven & Eight Months of Reagan Marie

I decided to group these two months into one blog post because not only did they just fly by, but they felt somewhat the same in terms of development and growth. Months 7 and 8 were full of fall festivities, Reagan’s first NFL football season, and our first  ever Halloween as a family.  So many firsts and highlights wrapped up into one season.  I officially maxed out my phone photo storage and am already anticipating Christmas and the holiday season. I’m going to have to brainstorm a new baby photo storage game plan.

PEDIATRICIAN CHECK-UP & GROWTH: Miss Reagan Marie won’t go into the pediatrician until her 9 month check-up and shots, but i’ll be sure to update as soon as that happens.  She is such a healthy little baby and I say a prayer of thankfulness EVERY SINGLE DAY for that.  She has outgrown most of her 6 month baby clothes and I have been on the lookout for “fall and winter” baby clothes.  We suddenly hit this point and I realized I didn’t have any warm clothes for her to wear. WHOOPS and PARENTING FAIL on my part. I can always count on for a good selection and a 60% OFF sale.  Reagan has been growing and growing and keeps getting chunkier and chunkier.  I was super sad to pack away most of her tiny baby clothes, but its kinda fun to look at the larger selection of baby clothes in bigger sizes.  Newborn to 6 months is mostly colored onesies and we are so ready for skinny jeans and dresses! She did rock some super cute Halloween outfits and of course our first Family Halloween Costume was epic.  I will forever remember it.

EYE COLOR, HAIR COLOR, & THE BIGGEST BABY SMILES:  Nothing has really changed in this department. Eyes are still blue, hair is still sparse, and the thigh rolls are still rolling! When she stops growing I feel like I can breathe for a second and just take in all the cuteness.  It doesn’t last long though and we are quickly onto the next big milestone etc. She has been all smiles lately and is seriously one of the happiest babies I have ever seen.

SLEEP: Aww the sleeping situation.  This is ever changing and never consistent.  We seem to have hit the dreaded 8 month sleep regression and Reagan is waking up several times a night.  We have been mixing it up and trying a few different sleep techniques and strategies. We eventually just gave up and decided to ride the wave with patience and love.  She wakes up a few times a night but will go back to sleep with a pacifier and a hug.  Its really not too bad at all and we are counting our blessings on what a good baby she is.

FEEDINGS: Reagan has been such a big girl and eating in her high chair for a few months now.  She takes mostly formula but we do solids 3 times a day still. So far she likes pretty much everything we give her.  We do mostly Oatmeal and Plum Food Pouches.  She doesn’t have any teeth yet, so i’m waiting to start giving her real food until I feel she is ready. She has become a pro at throwing things from her high chair, including food and her bottle.  She is a quick little lightening bug and will put her hands in whatever we are serving her, loves to bang her hands on the tray with Daddy, and isn’t quite sure what to think of the sippy cup we keeping giving her. Mostly she plays with it and chews on the rubber nipple. With patience, I know we will get there.  She is very independent and doesn’t like to do things until she is ready.  We have already experienced the “stink eye” several times.

SCHEDULE: With me deciding to head back to work, we worked to really simplify our schedules and it has been working for us.  Jeffrey takes Reagan on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.  And i’ve got her during the week while he is busy working from home.  Jeffrey and Reagan have their own special “Daddy Daycare” schedule that usually involves lots of playing, reading, CrossFit box visits, walking the dogs, and doing projects around the house.  He keeps her nice and busy and she is always ready to take a long afternoon nap by the time noon rolls around. Our days together are a little more low key.  We ease into the day with a bottle, a little news and some election coverage, do a few projects around the house, eat some food, maybe run to Target or the grocery store, work on our Halloween costumes, and then make some dinner and relax while we wait for Daddy to get home from CrossFit.

MILESTONES & PLAY: I have really enjoyed this phase of having a baby. Suddenly Reagan is her own little person and she is growing into her personality and mannerisms.  She loves to play and be goofy like all little babies, but she is especially talkative and sweet around us. We just love her to pieces.

She isn’t sure what to think about strangers and has the sweetest little habit of sticking her lower lip out when she isn’t sure about someone.  She is extremely comfortable around us and women in general. Anytime there is a man around that she doesn’t know, or even DOES know, that little lip comes out. She doesn’t cry, she just looks for Mommy or Daddy and won’t relax until the culprit is gone. I think its safe to say her “stranger danger” meter is definitely working.  I don’t want her to be afraid of people, but its definitely a good thing to embrace your child’s sense of caution. I want her to be able to trust her instincts, and if something or someone isn’t quite jiving, I want her to know its ok to let us know that she is uncomfortable.  We will always do our best to protect her and I know overtime she will learn who she can be around and who is a stranger.

She loves to sit and has officially started to roll around on the floor. No crawling yet but she did finally master the art of rolling on both sides.  She will roll across an entire room and literally disappear before our eyes.  She smacks her hands when she is happy and has learned how to scream. She loves to experiment with her voice and is always making all kinds of funny sounds. She puts everything in her mouth and has learned how to scoot backwards.  We joke that she can’t crawl because she is “high-centered.” That little belly of hers is always getting in the way.  She will stand on her own if she has something to hang onto and will take the occasional baby step if we are propping her up under her armpits.  She loves to be independent and wants whatever we have.  She loves it when we sing to her, the ABC’s are her favorite. No matter how fussy she is, a couple of corases will calm her instantly and put a BIG smile on that little face.  She hates to be left alone anywhere but is perfectly content playing by herself in a room where she can see us.

She loves going “out and about” with us and is a very good traveling baby. She is never fussy in public, thank goodness. We love the grocery store and Target.  We walk through the aisles and I tell her what everything is and what ingredients you use in certain dishes etc. We do colors and touch different objects. It is so fun. She does get pretty excited sometimes and will let out the biggest happy scream. Its embarrassing, funny, and adorable all at the same time. We take the puppies to the park and touch leaves and pumpkins.  She loves animals and is always excited when another dog walks by.  We swing at the park and meet other little kids and babies. This is such a fun age because she is actually interested in the world around her and wants to interact with everything,

We went to the pumpkin patch and apple orchard for family pictures and dressed up as lions and lion tamers for Halloween. She loved greeting the trick or treaters but got really scared by a few of the costumes.  We watched football games with Daddy and helped Mommy make a “practice” turkey for Thanksgiving. Overall, we had a wonderful Fall and are ready to kick-off the Holidays with Thanksgiving and Christmas. Bring on all things festive!!!!!!michelle signature

Baby Haguewood – 15 Weeks

15 Weeks - Website Version

How far along? technically 16 weeks.

Total weight gain/loss: +6lbs.

Maternity clothes? Finally wore a pair of hammy down maternity jeans and all I can say is…it was interesting.  I love the pants but I don’t quite fill them up yet.  I’m used to tight fitting jeans and leggings and these were a little baggy in all the wrong areas…yikes! I know one of these days my belly is going to pop and i’ll fill up the belly portion properly.

Stretch marks? Slathering on the Belly Balm and Mustela every morning and night!!!

Sleep: Sleeping A LOT and it feels amazing!!!

Best moment this week: We welcomed Fall and the hubby and I rocked out at a Def Leppard concert in our hometown!!! It was amazing to go out on a date and i’m pretty sure the baby was jammin’ out in my belly.

Have you told family and friends? Yep!

Worst moment this week: I’ve officially come down with my first pregnancy cold.  I am down for the count and it SUCKS!!! I’ve been gargling with salt water, have a humidifier on order from Amazon, and am trying to sleep as much as possible.  I’m such a baby when it comes to not feeling well and apparently when your preggers your not allowed to take any cough drops or cold medicine of any kind.  So i’ve got my Big Girl/Mommy pants on and am sucking it up and toughing it out.

Miss Anything? I would give my left arm right now for a glass of wine!!!!

Movement: Nothing official BUT i’m expecting some movement any day now!!!!

Food cravings: Still craving Lime Perrier from last week.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not this week!!!

Have you started to show yet: About to get big any day now…I can feel it!

Gender prediction: BOY!!!

Labor Signs: Nope.

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time: HAPPY!!!

Looking forward to: We are getting closer to our 20 week ultrasound where we are officially half way, OMG, and we get to see our sweet gummy bear again. I’m so excited!!!!!

Happy December Friends…FaLaLaLa

Happy December my friends!!!!

I’m so flipping excited for Christmas, New Years, and all things SNOW related!!! Bring on a very white Christmas baby!!!

But first a quick Fall roundup…because once again I got a little behind on blogging!!! I’ve definitely been marching to my own beat lately and blogging just wasn’t part of the schedule!!!

I can’t believe I haven’t blogged since mid-November when we were celebrating Miss Jovie’s 5th birthday. I didn’t even cover our Halloween festivities…

So here is a quick recap of all things Halloween and Thanksgiving related with a few of my favorite Football ramblings sprinkled in.

– October 31, 2014 –

As much as I love Thanksgiving & Christmas, i’m always a little sad the day after Halloween. It truly is one of my all-time favorite holidays and I plan our costumes all year long.   This year I searched and searched for an awesome family costume!!! Last years SuperFamily was one of my absolute favorites and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to top it.

So keeping with the tutu theme from last year…I opted for a fun fairytale costume…

The 3 Little Pigs & The Big Bad Wolf

We had such a blast.  I intentionally left all our lights off so we wouldn’t get any trick-or-treaters and we hit the town with some good friends in our costumes.  As always, I made our costumes and I just want to point out that I AM SO HAPPY with how they turned out.  Although the 2 biggest challenges were finding a freakin’ pair of light pink leggings to wear under my tutu AND making the hubby’s wolf hood by hand.  It was a nice challenge but something I won’t be attempting again!!!

– November 27, 2014 –

This year was incredibly quiet for us over the Thanksgiving holiday. We are getting to that age where families are beginning to spread out and start their own traditions etc.  That means smaller family gatherings, until of course we start our own family. YAY! YAY! YAY!

I was SOOOOOOOO excited to try out a new Thanksgiving Cupcake recipe this year…

INTRODUCING the worlds cutest Pie Inspired Cupcakes…in cute packaging of course!!!! I’m in love…

Cherry Pie Cupcakes

Apple Pie Cupcakes

I had such a blast passing these beauties out to good friends and family! I’m so incredibly thankful for each and everyone of them!!!!

We started our morning with a wonderful and chilly walk with the golden girls. It was such a gorgeous morning and although it was COLD the sun was shining!!!!

The hubby visited some friends and I watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.  We enjoyed an absolutely amazing dinner with my parents, a few aunts and cousins, and my sweet grandfather.  It was super chill and completely wonderful…and you know there were yummy Mimosas involved so I was a HAPPY girl.

We really missed our golden girls however, so we decided to head home early this year.  We curled up in some comfy pajamas, gave lots of Thanksgiving kisses to the girls, and watched our AMAZING Seattle Seahawks destroy the San Fransisco 49ers.  Just one more reason to be extra Thankful this year!!! My friends…it was an absolutely glorious WIN and we were cheering the whole game. GO HAWKS!!

Screen Shot 2014-12-07 at 8.39.10 PM

We have so many reasons to be Thankful this year…way to many to count.  So i’ll be simple and give a shoutout to all our Friends and Family…WE LOVE YOU and are so incredibly thankful for the endless love and support we receive from you all on a regular basis. Not just on thanksgiving, but all year long.

As each year passes, I begin to see the value of our loved ones more and more, and the “stuff” of this life fades into the background. “Stuff” is meaningless and relationships are KEY.  I would like to spend my time investing in people and relationships.

With that, i’m going to wrap some Christmas gifts and put another sprig of Mistletoe up in our house…any excuse to get some “extra” kisses from my amazing hubby this time of year.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, a Happy Holiday, and Happy “Everything!!!!!”

It’s all about the Jovie dog…

On Tuesday, November 11th we celebrated our sweet dog Jovie’s 5th Birthday!!!!

She is such a darling and we have so much love for this little baby.  My hubby received Jovie as a birthday gift 5 years ago and she has been his loving companion ever sense.  These two are simply inseparable.  Every time the hubby has to go on a business trip, Jovie patiently waits for him to come home. She was one of the CUTEST golden puppies I have ever seen.

When Jeffrey and I got married in 2011, I had the honor of becoming this little girls “mommy” and she is just as precious now as she was then. We all look like babies in this picture.

She loves going to Grandma and Grandpa’s lake house and jumping off the dock more than anything else. She truly is a water dog and her “Happy Place” is wherever she can swim and swim and swim.

She puts up with so many of my holiday shenanigans including yearly Halloween costumes, bunny ears for Easter, and Christmas scarves for the holidays.

This angel has celebrated so many milestones with our family and now we are excited to celebrate HER!!!

In the Spring we found out Jovie had a malignant tumor in her leg.  We were simply devastated.  We knew we weren’t ready to say goodbye to our baby and it wasn’t quite her time yet.  So… after 2 surgeries, several weeks in a full leg cast, and 100lb. mommy carrying 65lb. Jovie up and down the stairs multiple times a day, we FINALLY received the all clear and a clean bill of health!!! Our baby was back and her inner LIGHT was shinning brighter than ever!!!! We added a third Cancer Survivor to our family and CELEBRATED!!!!

Happy Birthday!!!!!

Soup Sunday – CrockPot Chicken Enchilada Soup

Hello Hello Friends, i’m back today with another “fab” recipe.  My first Soup Sunday was such a HIT with the hubby that I just knew I needed to dial up something awesome for week 2.  My sweet hubby so kindly pointed out that Week 1’s Loaded Potato Soup was seriously lacking in Protein.  I knew I needed to get my act together and wanted to try something with chicken.  I found multiple recipes that seemed so-so but finally ended up “making my own” recipe.  GASP, because I am so not a cook and totally do better when I have a detailed recipe to follow.  Luckily, my Chicken Enchilada Soup turned out soooooo yummy and is a bit like a “glorified” Taco Soup. HAHA.

If your interested in Week 1 – Loaded CrockPot Potato Soup

So…here is my recipe for CrockPot Chicken Enchilada Soup!!!!

To download a PDF copy of the recipe click CrockPot Chicken Enchilada Soup!!!

CrockPot Chicken Enchilada #1 Soup

Start by gathering all your ingredients.  I had to de-thaw my chicken breasts and that took about 45 min. to an hour.  Also, per my husbands “more protein” request I used 6 chicken breasts instead of 2. Chop up the chicken,  dice your onion, and dice your green pepper.

Following the given measurements in the recipe above, dump all the ingredients into your CrockPot.  Stir to mix all the ingredients and spices.

Let this cook and simmer for 3-4 hours on LOW or 6 hours on HIGH!!!!

Sprinkle some pepperjack cheese and cilantro on top of the soup, re-cover and allow the cheese to melt!

I served my soup with some yummy Spanish rice and warmed soft tortillas!!!  Ladle into serving bowls, top with extra pepperjack cheese and cilantro, and finish with a dollop of sour cream if desired.

This recipe was a BIG hit in our family and I was so pleased with how it turned out.  I was surprised with how “spicy” the recipe is however!!!! My husband loved it!!!

If you have any questions please feel free to email me or comment below and i’ll get back to you right away!

As always, thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the recipe!!!!

Soup Sunday – Loaded Potato Soup

I’m so excited to announce a new feature on Every Day Should Sparkle…introducing Soup Sundays for Fall 2014.

Screen shot 2014-10-06 at 9.37.20 PM

My sweet hubby and I are both ridiculously busy working and creating this wonderful life together, so when it comes to  dinner time i’m all over a quick and easy solution for a yummy family dinner! Cue the new Soup Sundays for Fall…aka…the easiest and yummiest recipes that I can get my hands on!!! I will be featuring a new recipe every Sunday throughout the Fall of 2014.

When it comes to cooking I am definitely not a “natural” and my husband always jokes that I can cook anything from a cookbook…as long as I have a recipe to follow.  So i’m always collecting yummy recipes and my favorite recipes usually come via a crock-pot.  Super Easy and Yummy.  Its really hard to mess up a crock-pot recipe friends.

So our first recipe was one i’ve been wanting to try for a very long time.

Screen shot 2014-10-07 at 10.02.50 AM

To download a copy of my recipe click the PDF link below.  If you have any questions regarding the recipe please feel free to email me or comment below.

Dinner Roll Recipe is available as a PDF below.

Homemade Dinner Rolls

These recipes are seriously easy to make.  I was a little nervous to try the Dinner Roll recipe but I was completely shocked at how easy and simple it was. Most “roll” recipes require several hours to make because you have to let the dough rise.  This one only took about an hour and I was so excited…again quick and easy.  Up first the potato soup recipe…

Start by washing, peeling, and cubing your potatoes.

Add potatoes, chopped onion, garlic, salt & pepper, and chicken broth to the crock pot.

Cook on HIGH for 4-5 hours until the potatoes are soft.  Gently mash the potatoes but leave some chunks. I added a little extra broth about half way through.

Now its time to make our fabulous soup nice and creamy.  Start by removing 2 cups of liquid from the crock-pot.  Then melt the butter and cream cheese in a medium sized pot. Slowly add cream to the mixture and stir.  Then add flour stirring constantly for 2 minutes.  The mixture will thicken quickly.  Next add the 2 cups of liquid and then slowly add the whole mixture to the crock-pot. Cover and cook on HIGH for about 10 minutes.

NEXT UP, the Dinner Rolls…

Start by dissolving 1 package of quick acting yeast in warm milk that has been heated to 110 degrees.  No more than 115 degrees or you will kill the yeast AND no less than 105 degrees or the yeast won’t grow properly.

Then add 1 cup of flour and beat until smooth.  Continue adding remaining flour, oil, sugar, and salt until a soft dough forms.

Cover the dough and allow it to rise in a warm place for 45 minutes. The dough will double in size. Punch down the dough in the center and fold over a few times.

Pinch off 1 inch balls and roll gently in your hand.  Place 3 rolled balls in each cup of a greased muffin tin.  Brush the tops of each roll with melted butter and sprinkle with a little coarse sea salt.  Bake at 400 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.

Serve your tasty Homemade Dinner Rolls warm right from the oven with the Crock-Pot Loaded Potato Soup. Sooooo Yummy!!!!! We served our soup with crumbled bacon bits, cheese, chopped green onions, and sour cream!!!

I hope you ENJOY this recipe just as much as our family did!!! As always if you have any questions regarding the recipes above let me know.

Enjoy Friends,

The newly minted “Mrs” was my maid of honor at our wedding 3 years ago, and I was so deeply honored to be one of her maids of honor for her gorgeous wedding. We had such a blast. The venue was simply gorgeous and what started out as a cloudy and rainy day turned around for the ceremony.  The sun was shining down on the beautiful couple as they exchanged vows.  It was BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

We started the BIG WEDDING WEEKEND by decorating the venue on Friday night!! It was really so stunning that not much decorating was needed. Jessie’s wedding color was the most gorgeous Bright Red with accents of Sunflowers sprinkled in…so pretty my friends!!!!!! And Yep, thats me…on a tall ladder…hanging sunflowers balls!!!

September means Football Season Ya’ll

September 2014

I can’t even begin to express how excited I am to welcome September!!! September really is the unofficial start of Fall and as much as I want to dive right in, we aren’t quite there just yet.  I still have a few items to cross off my  Summer bucket list.

September 2014 - poem

September means so many wonderful things to me…beautiful weather, yummy carmel & apple EVERYTHING, and of course some FOOTBALL!!! My football loving heart has been on pins and needles the last few days waiting for the 2014 Season Kickoff Game – Seattle Seahawks vs. Green Bay Packers. Arghhhhhhh I literally cannot wait!!! My hubby and I have been in full football prep mode including putting up some seasonal football decor, a tasty gameday menu, and some cozy new Seahawks blankets to ring in September and the Big Game! Soooooooooooo excited!

Seahawks Blankets

In honor of September I enjoyed my first Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks the other day.  The epitome of everything FALL in one amazing and delicious beverage!  Fall and Christmas are really the only times I hit up Starbucks due to the hefty $$$ I dish out and the calorie count. Yikes!!! But every sip is totally worth it!!!

Pumpkin Spice Latte 2014

On the docket this Fall i’ve got some yummy new soup recipes that i’m excited to try out and a few fun projects to knock out as the weather gets chilly.  Watch for some fun and festive chalkboard prints that I will be posting shortly. This weekend is supposed to be the last gorgeous and HOT weekend of the summer so i’m excited to wrap up a few summer items and maybe polish off whats left of my summer tan. So CHEERS to a big WIN tomorrow night against the Packers and all the wonders that Fall will bring this September!

Lots of Love & Blessings,

‘Twas the Happiest Thanksgiving of All

Happy Thanksgiving to you all from the Haguewood Family!!!!

I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving and had fun with family and friends.  On this special day I would like to thank everyone who plays a special role in our world! We are so blessed to be loved by so many, and in return we can offer our love and gifts back to the world.  Without the love and support of our family we could never accomplish the things we have, and our gratitude is pouring out to you all.

We spent most of the morning watching football, drinking mimosas, and playing with the babies.

While all the yummy food was cooking the hubby and myself took the dog for a small walk to play fetch.  The goal was to exhaust all of her energy before guests came over.  We succeeded!!!

Then it was nap time for everyone, adults and puppies included, before guests and dinner time!!!

The rest of the day was filled with tons of family and hugging! Dinner was phenomenal and we all experienced a bit of a food coma.  After we let our tummies settle, it was time for PIE!!!

Happy Thanksgiving Eve

Thanksgiving Eve Photo

I don’t know about you but I am quietly preparing for the biggest eating day of the year. Cheers to this special day where we honor and give thanks to all the things we are grateful for. Is anyone else having a minor freak out moment that Christmas is almost here??? YAY!!! I absolutely love Thanksgiving because I have a legitimate excuse to eat as much food as I want AND the following day is the start of  my Christmas Countdown!! So excited.

So this is one of my newest features on the blog and i’ve gotta say that i’m loving it…haha. My Love List is a place where I can randomly place all the things “I Love” and have been enjoying lately.  It is exactly how my brain operates jumping around to all the things I love at random.

So in the spirit of the Thanksgiving Holiday, I don’t think there is a better or more appropriate time to love list, let’s give it a go…

1. Dreaming of Sugar Plums and Snapfish Christmas Cards. I don’t know about you, but I dream about our fun & festive family Christmas Card all year long.  I literally spend hours on Snapfish, Shutterfly, and TinyPrints’ websites obsessing about all the cute designs. I usually have about 2 dozen bookmarked by the time Halloween rolls around AND an internal battle exists within me over which I will finally choose.  Talk about stressful…

2. REPEAT from my last Love List, but this really is how much I love the 3M’s…Mimosas, Muffins, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.  There is nothing better then cuddling up and getting cozy to watch the parade with a carb-loaded apple spice muffin in one hand & a chilled Mimosa in the other.  Soon to be followed by a full Turkey dinner with all the sides…this is my HEAVEN!!!

3. Matching Christmas Scarves for the hubby and myself. LOVE LOVE LOVE these cute red and white striped scarves found on Amazon.  You can find them HERE!!!

4. Watching our sweet Roxie Baby Girl grow and grow.  Her little puppy body is getting so big and watching her learn and develop her own little personality has been AMAZING.  She is getting smarter by the minute and Jovie just loves her little sister.  Watching them world war 3 wrestle PLAY is simply the highlight of my day.

5. Beautiful Poetry. This is a poem I found on Pinterest that I simply fell in love with. It really sums up the season and incorporates an aspect of appreciating nature in its own element. LOVE IT!!!

“November comes and November goes,

with the last red berries and the first white snows.

With night coming early and dawn coming late,

and ice in the bucket and frost by the gate.

The fires burn and kettles sing,

and earth sinks to rest until next Spring.”

– Clyde Watson

6. DISCOUNTS, DISCOUNTS, DISCOUNTS!!!! As in Black Friday & Cyber Monday Discounts!!! This year, with so much to be thankful for in my life, I would like to spread the joy and love by offering some Black Friday Fun Discounts at my Etsy Shop, LovetheSparkle!!! All weekend long my prints will be available for purchase AND if you use the coupon code gobblegobble50 at checkout you will receive 50% OFF your entire purchase!!!!!!

Cheers to you and yours this Thanksgiving holiday! I hope you all have a wonderful and festive day with lots of yummy food and family!

‘Tis the Season to Be Thankful

Be Thankful - Listing Image #3

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I am getting so excited! It is time to celebrate all the things we are thankful for.  This year, there really are too many to count. It truly is the Season to Be Thankful.

This time of year is so hard for me because i’m trying to focus on all things Thanksgiving, but I can’t STOP THINKING about Christmas and New Years!!! We EAT a ton of food and WATCH a ton of football, and then before you know it, the most wonderful time of the year is upon us!!  Turkey Day comes and goes and then its time for Christmas Trees, decorating cookies and sparkly party dresses. Bring on the holiday season…

But I do have to keep up the “thanksgiving” vibe a little longer.  The fall decorations have been staying up with a few new additions, although i’m itching to get my Christmas gear out. I might, or might not, have put up my outdoor Christmas lights today…shhhhh don’t tell!!!

Here are a few of my Thanksgiving Favorites to help keep us focused…

Thanksgiving Favorites 2013

#1 – Essie “Bobbing Baubles”     #2 – Essie “Twin Sweater Set”     #3 – Target Sheer Top

#4 – Pearl Strands     #5 – Orange & Red Hydrangeas     #6 – Philosophy Pumpkin Pie Shower Gel

Many of you know my obsession with Essie Nail Polish and Fall has been a great season of rich hues.  I’ve never been able to get into the “dark” colors but Essie’s “Bobbing Baubles” completely won me over.  I love how it is a “lighter” navy and goes on with a distinct blue tint. Sometimes the darker tones go on black and you can’t even tell that you are wearing an actual color.

This season’s color inspiration came from one of my coworkers who is getting married next summer.  She has totally turned me onto a rich raspberry color that is popping up all over this fall.  I love the contrast of the raspberry tones with the traditional oranges & yellows of Fall.

#6 on my list doesn’t need any introduction.  I absolutely LOVE anything in the philosophy line and their seasonal scents are no exception.  This year I decided on Homemade Pumpkin Pie Shower Gel which is amazing. It really gets me in the mood for Thanksgiving and I can’t wait to gorge myself on the real thing post Turkey Day dinner.

On my Love List this week…

1. The “Naked 2” Palette from Urban Decay!!! OBSESSED doesn’t even begin to explain how much I love this product. OMG it is amazing.  I like to keep my makeup colors fairly neutral and this palette allows me to do just that without feeling boring.  I’m literally counting down the days until the Naked 3 Palette is released…Dec 11th at Sephora!!!!

Naked 2 Palette

2. Christmas Music before Thanksgiving.  I spent my afternoon in the chilly outdoors today putting up Christmas Lights, while rocking out to Christmas Music on pandora.  Every time a car or a jogger would go by they would give me a dirty look like I was a crazy person. What these Scrooges don’t understand is that Thanksgiving really is the turning point for the Holiday Season. I LIVE for Christmas. It really is the most wonderful time of the year and i’m simply getting in the spirit of the season.  Bah Humbug.

3. The 3M’S…Mimosas, Muffins, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!!!! So excited to enjoy these pre-thanksgiving treats before we stuff our belly’s with Turkey!!!!

4. Golden’s and Pumpkins!!! I finally got around to throwing away our Halloween pumpkins and was sad to see them go.  I will always remember it as Roxie’s first holiday and she has grown so much in the past few weeks since we first got her.  But…I am so excited for our first christmas together as a family of 2 plus 5 furry children!!! Which means something even cuter then golden’s and pumpkins…Christmas Goldens. Fa La La La.

Roxie - Pumpkins

Last but certainly not least I have a few new additions to my Etsy Shop, LovetheSparkle, which I am making available before Thanksgiving.  I was going to wait until Black Friday, but all the fun holiday prints have officially changed my mind.  I’ve been rocking out to Christmas tunes while working on these pieces and I am so happy with how they turned out. Ho Ho Ho.

On Cloud Nine from Puppy Love

Well I have quite a few updates to share today. And some very exciting news!!!!

First up on my list I would like to point out that we are well into Fall and I have been totally in my element! I love rocking the boots, leggings, and comfy sweaters! The air is crisp and I am in HEAVEN!!!!

I know it was a complete shock to everyone that I am a football fan!!! 🙂

Next up on the list, my wonderful hubby has returned from a long business trip and is finally settling in.  I was rocking the single life and am not ashamed to admit that I missed him like crazy.  I’m completely used to living alone and enjoyed some time in my college years where I lived by myself. It was a wonderful time and I am completely thankful for the independence I gained. BUT, when you are around someone everyday and used to waking up next to them it throws your routine off a bit when suddenly they aren’t there anymore.  Adjustment is part of the game in marriage and i’m happy that my hubby is home.

We, meaning me and our animals HAHA, had some crazy times while he was out of town. Jovie wasn’t feeling super well Saturday night so I ended up taking her to the emergency vet clinic on Sunday morning.  Turns out she had an ulceration on her right eye and was in quite a bit of pain. There is seriously nothing worse then seeing an animal in pain for me and it just broke my heart to know that she was hurting.  We got her some pain meds and drops for her eyes and set up an appointment with an ophthalmologist for the next day.  He confirmed that she had the ulceration and they did surgery the same day. She was completely comatose the next few days.

Daddy came home Wednesday afternoon and everyone was busy getting settled in.

Thursday brought with it some very exciting news.  We found out about 6 weeks ago that the breeder that we got Jovie from had a litter of puppies.  We had to jump on the wagon super quickly and snagged one up.  They were only 3 weeks old when we first visited them!!!

They were SO TINY and super cute!!!!

Next came five agonizing weeks of waiting until we could scoop her up and bring her home.

I had my books and reading schedule all lined out. Puppy Prepping was is FULL swing.  I have a lot of learning to do when it comes to raising a dog. We hit up Petco and did a quick shopping spree for the new little miss. We actually did really good as I am the queen of couponing and bargain shopping! Go Us!!!!

All ready to meet her new little sister.  This is as close as we could get to “nesting” puppy style!!!

puppy #4

The big day finally arrived, a whole week ahead of schedule I might add, and we were completely stoked and couldn’t really believe that we were finally going to be puppy parents again!! The whole day drug by and we both couldn’t wait for work to be finished. It finally arrived and we headed to the breeder to get our new little baby!!!

Meet Roxie Haguewood!!!!

We are just obsessed with her.  We are officially  one week in as of Friday night and  we are finally starting to settle in a bit.  The first couple of days were an adjustment period for everyone in our house. Things are beginning to settle down and we are starting to put a routine together. We are using a crate training method which worked wonders for our dog Jovie.  My husband keeps telling me that there is a method to the madness and we simply need to stick with it.  We have her down to a pretty good schedule with a few exceptions here and there.

6am to 9pm we use this schedule to an absolute tee:

6am – Out to do business right away, play for 20 min, back out to do business again, back in the crate

8:30am – Out to do business, play for 20 min, breakfast time, back out to do business, back in the crate

10:30am – Out to do business right away, play for 20 min, back out to do business again, back in the crate

12:30pm – Out to do business, play for 20 min, lunch time, back out to do business, back in the crate

2:30am – Out to do business, play for 20 min, back out to do business, back in the crate

Repeat at 4:30pm

7:30pm – Out to do business, play for 20 min, dinner time, back out to do business, back in the crate

9pm – Out to do business, play for 20 min, back out to do business, back in the crate for bedtime

12:30am – Out to do business, back in the crate

4:30am – Out to do business, back in the crate

We are gradually trying to build up her bladder tolerance. Hopefully in week 2 we can increase her time in her crate during the day to 3 hours as well as at night to 4 hours! Woo hoo for not waking up every 2 hours in the middle of the night! We did that the first couple of days and it was definitely a shock to the system.  But every time we woke up and saw her adorable little face it didn’t matter anymore! Love her!!!

We are going to start her training in a few weeks and I am really looking forward to it.  This is mommy training as well as  Roxie Dog Training!

More updates to come soon!
