Easter Basket Goodies

Holy cow its April! We’ve been so looking forward to Easter this year!!! Easter 2016 was Reagan’s first big holiday and my first chance to play the Easter Bunny.  Obviously it goes without saying, she had no freakin’ clue what was going on.  She was around 3 weeks old.  BUT this year is soooooo different and she is starting to get the hang of this holiday thing!!! She is on the verge of walking and that means we can officially have an egg hunt and i’m not sure my heart will handle the cuteness.

The days are long with a toddler, but they are going so quickly at the same time because i’m pregnant.  Baby prepping, spring cleaning, work, and trying to remain active have me fully extended. But i’m oh so happy!!! I wanted to get a head start on Reagan and Baby H’s Easter baskets and thought I would share our findings.  Finding relatively inexpensive, small, age appropriate gifts is tough and i’m not one to buy a bunch of crap!!! If we purchase something, WE USE IT!!!! And I want to get my money’s worth from that purchase. AKA, something Reagan needs and will use.

We have always gone easy on the toys and i’m not going to fill her basket with sweets.  She is a huge fan of her stuffed animals or  “Lovies,” and we seem to go through pacifiers like its going out of style.  I’m obsessed with this limited edition WubbaNub Cow pacifier.  A reusable pair of bunny ears is always a festive addition and will get used over the years. We love to read to Reagan and are always looking to build up her library.  Children’s books are the absolute best and I LOVE anything with a holiday theme.  Its fun to mix up and exchange books from her library based on the season or holiday.

Easter Basket Goodies

FOR BABY:     Jellycat Bashful Bunny Ring   //   WubbaNub Pacifier

FOR TODDLER:     Jellycat Bashful Bunny   //   Gold Bunny Ears   //   HoneySticks Beeswax Crayons

BOOKS:     The Golden Egg Book   //   Bunny Roo I Love You   //   The Country Bunny and the Gold Shoes   //   The Secret Garden

I am so excited for some new books and probably most looking forward to getting those crayons into Miss Reagan’s hands.  I did a ton of research on safe crayons for a one year old.  She is busy sticking everything in her mouth still and the HoneySticks are completely natural and the size is supposed to be great for new little artists. Pinterest says you can tape a piece of paper to the highchair and let them color away. We are going to give it a try and if it doesn’t go well, we’ll just wait another month or so and try again.

Last year I got her Easter Basket from World Market and I was so excited to learn that it is back again this year.  This means that Baby H #2 will get the same basket and they can match for future years. Little details like that are super important to me and I actually go out of my way to think of them.  The basket is the Mint Wire Farmhouse Basket and is also available in white and rustic metal. The mint was just calling to me last year and is the perfect Springy color.

Screen Shot 2017-03-31 at 8.55.45 PM

Also totally random, but how CUTE are these Carrot Utensils for a toddler. These might have to make there way into our baskets this year as well. Reagan is absolutely fascinated by silverware and loves to practice using our forks to pick things up. Good practice for her hand eye coordination.

Happy April Friends! I hope this gives you a few ideas or inspiration for your little bunnies and their Easter baskets.

St. Patrick’s Day Favorites

Happy St. Patrick’s Day week friends!!!

We are so excited for the next holiday on our docket…St. Patrick’s Day!!! Its the only time of year I can get away with having Lucky Charms in the house and I simply can’t wait to shamrock shape everything for Miss Reagan.  She could probably care less but its so fun and festive and right up my ally. Since my huge pregnant self just isn’t looking good in green these days, I decided to round up some of my favorite Rainbow inspired baby favorites to celebrate good ol’ st. patty’s day. We are so ready for Spring and some fresh air around here and what better way to brighten a rainy day then with some bright and cheerful rainbow colors.

st patricks day baby favorites

Mint Rainbow Romper  //  Rainbow Swimsuit for Baby  // Rainbow Tulle Dress  // 100% Love Blanket  // Gold Baby Moccassins  // Rainbow Stacker  // The Story of the Leprechaun  // Rain Baby Teethers

I am sooooooo in LOVE with the rainbow swimsuit and can’t wait to get it for Miss Reagan.  I also think we need to add the gold moccassins to our shoe collection. I’ve never been able to jump on the baby moccasin band wagon, but these beauties might just make it happen for me.  Like the rest of the world, I am just obsessed with everything gold these days and with Reagan almost walking it seems like a solid investment.  🙂

I have big plans for some green paleo pancakes, lots and lots of festive green treats, and possibly a shamrock shake because my sugar cravings are just out of control these days.  My pregnancy chalkboards are officially back in action, at least for the final trimester, so stay tuned for those.  There are no drinking shenanigans in my future this year, but I might sneak in some Lucky Charm covered cupcakes and of course lots of kisses from our little leprechaun.

Cheers friends,

Christmas Gift Guide for Baby

I think it goes without saying but little Reagan Marie has been a very good girl this year. I have a sneaking suspicion that Santa is going to be very good to her. I decided to put together a little gift guide with some of the ideas I found for Miss Reagan. Being that this is her first Christmas, we are just so excited to see her little face light up when she gets all her goodies.  She will most likely be totally pumped about the wrapping paper, bows, and nothing else. We decided to go with the easy “something to WEAR, something to READ, something you WANT, and something you NEED” formula for her gifts. She is in desperate need of a winter coat and slippers, is always down for books and new toys, and mommy kinda WANTED her to have to cutest little elf slippers i’ve ever seen.  This age is so much fun to shop for but a little tricky at the same time.  We went easy on the toys and aimed for mostly useful items that we can use over and over.  She is getting bored of her baby toys so having a few new things around will be great for her and we were in desperate need of a few new bath toys to keep her occupied and entertained.

Melissa and Doug Geometric Stacker     BabyGAP Pink Puff Coat     BabyGAP Cozy Elf Booties     UGG Bixbie Baby Booties     The Day the Crayons Quit     HAPE Color and Shape Sorter     Fair Isle Christmas Pajamas     Munchkin Bath Letters     Baby Lit’s A Christmas Carol

And in the parental department I like to think we’ve been very good “kids” as well. You’re never too old to believe in Santa and you gotta be GOOD to earn that visit from the Big guy!!! Here are a few things that are on our adult wish list this year…

screen-shot-2016-12-07-at-9-07-22-pm

FOR MOMMY:

Canon Rebel T6i     FitBit Charge 2     Threshold Izon Silverware Collection

Anthropologie Latte Bowls     Ceramic Berry Basket

FOR DADDY:

Philips Sonicare Toothbrush     Nike Men’s Metcon 2 CrossFit shoes     Kindle Fire

Lulu Lemon Gift Cards     Underarmour Men’s Athletic Gear

These Santa’s Elves are completely FINISHED with their Christmas shopping and are so grateful for Black Friday deals and online shopping.  The stockings are hung, the halls have been decked, and we are just so excited for all the festive FUN! Now we need to hit the hill for some sledding in the SNOW and I can’t wait to bake Christmas cookies with Reagan for the first time.  I’ve been waiting for our first Christmas with kids since the day I found out I was pregnant and have been playing Holiday music since the day after Halloween. Bring on all things Christmas and Festive!!!!!

Happy July First

Happy July 1st to you ALL and Happy Friday Friends!!

I am so exited to be kicking off the long weekend with everything fun & festive for the Fourth of July. I love a good LONG weekend! Holidays that spill over onto a Monday mean a little extra sleep (maybe), a little extra help from the hubs, and lots of FUN and SUNSHINE celebrating the Red, White, and Blue. We are headed to the lake for the Fourth this year and are so excited to celebrate Miss Reagan’s first Fourth of July! We’ve got some amazing food, activities, and festive outfits planned, and just can’t wait to wrap up the week and get started on the FUN stuff.

I’ve finally rounded up my meal plan for the Fourth and this is what we are thinking. Every year we kick off our Fourth with these festive Red, White, & Blue Waffles for breakfast.  We’ve got lunch covered with my husbands delicious BBQ Pulled Beef Sandwiches and I am excited to try a NEW recipe for Lentil Salad with Cumin Lime Dressing. I actually really enjoy cooking as long as I have a decent recipe to follow and Reagan is preoccupied for a bit! Dinner is going to be classic BBQ Chicken (a staple/can’t MESS it up), but I was seriously drawn to this recipe for BBQ Chicken Bacon Pineapple Kabobs. They look AH-MAZING!!! It wouldn’t be the Fourth without Corn on the Cob and of course our 4th of July tradition…a Gourmet S’Mores Bar complete with all the candy classics. I just might end up looking pregnant again but will have had one HELL of GOOD TIME!

s'mores bar   s'mores bar

Slate Chalkboard HERE & HERE   //   4th of July Trays (similar HERE)

We’ve got our food covered, all our festive outfits are planned (read about them HERE), and we are taking the whole weekend off to Play and Celebrate as a family.  Our baby girl is turning 4 months old TOMORROW!!!! Oh my goodness, where has the time gone? Watch for her four month pictures + updates coming next week…so excited to share all the details.  Some of our good friends are getting married on Sunday so we will be living it up and flying solo without Reagan. A little sad, a little excited, and a little confused by all the mommy emotions i’m feeling about leaving her.  Totally NORMAL stuff! And then of course Monday is one of the BEST DAYS OF THE WHOLE YEAR!!!! I think its safe to say this weekend is going to ROCK!!!

Tonight, we’ve got friends coming over for pizza and to play Cards Against Humanity. I’ve never played before. We might be the last people on the planet to finally jump on that bandwagon, but am so EXCITED because I hear it is beyond hilarious and ridiculous! I bought the game the other day and thanks to Amazon Prime it arrived yesterday just in time for a whole mess of 4th of July shenanigans.

And on that note…i’m OUT! Cheers to the freakin’ weekend Friends and Happy Fourth of July to you all! Play SAFE this weekend!!!!!

With only one week to go until one of our FAVORITE HOLIDAYS, I thought it would be fun to round up some of my favorite Mama + Mini Styles for the 4th of July!!! Have I mentioned lately that having a Little Girl is the best and most festive thing EVER!!! And I LOVE it beyond belief!!!

It is no surprise that I am a lover of Holidays and anything festive.  When I think back to the Fourth last year, I was newly pregnant and in the beginning stages of good ol’ morning sickness…how FUN right??? I was a pouty party because I couldn’t drink, but was still head over heels happy because we were PREGNANT!!! We found out we were expecting over the holiday weekend last year and it was just so much fun.  The Fourth of July is one our favorite holidays and it is very serindipidous that we found out about our sweet baby while celebrating the Red, White, & Blue.

I’m just so excited to see what kind of festive shenanigans we can get into this year.  Miss Reagan is going to be representing the Red, White, & Blue and we will be taking her to the lake for the very first time. I am just so excited.  I know she is still too young to understand what is going on but its so fun to see her little eyes light up when she sees and experiences new things for the first time. SPARKLERS & S’MORES anyone?!?!?!

Hope everyone has an amazing week and it’s definitely time to do some festive 4th of July party planning!

Happy Easter 2016

HAPPY EASTER 2016

Well its back to our normal routine after celebrating the Easter holiday this past weekend! I want to say that our weekend was calm and relaxing but Little Miss Reagan had us on our toes the whole time.  She decided she wanted to be awake and fussy most of Saturday night, so Jeffrey and I took shifts staying up with her and soothing her as much as possible.  She really just loves to be held and loved on more than anything.  She will fall asleep in our arms and be the most content baby ever, but the second you put her down she is wide awake and looking at you with her BIG bright eyes!

Needless to say, we both woke up exhausted and tanked on Easter morning.  We decided to just roll with it.  I had big plans to make us an awesome and yummy breakfast complete with bunny shaped pancakes and Easter Baskets, but NOPE, baby girl had other plans in mind. We still managed to enjoy the morning and cuddled our sweet baby girl.  We left for a family dinner that afternoon and finally got to show off our beautiful baby girl to some extended family. So fun and of course everyone loved little miss. Reagan and I had matching outfits and she was so sweet decked out in white lace and pink looking incredibly girly. Just like her Momma.

I was a little late putting up our Easter decorations this year. I’ve kinda had my hands full with a newborn baby and everything. But I managed to pull out the boxes during an extra long nap time. I normally go gang busters on the decorations but this year I decided to keep it clean and simply.  Less to take down later. 🙂

I did a whole post on Little Miss Reagan’s First Easter Basket and all the goodies I found to fill it in my previous post. For links to items and to read the post click HERE.  I was so happy with how it turned out and i’m already excited for next year when she will semi-understand what is going on and want to play with all her goodies. The Easter Bunny even left her a sweet little note and she had a special card from Mommy and Daddy.  Easter 2016 #2

I found the basket at World Market and loved how versatile and cheap it was. I looked at all the cute customized baskets from Pottery Barn but really loved how simply and cute this basket was.  Plus I can use it for other things during the rest of the year.

I was so THRILLED that we had a sweet baby girl because now we can dress her up all cute and adorable!!!! All the sweet Easter clothes out there were so hard to narrow down. I finally decided on the cutest dress from Target that I was completely in love with. Easter Dress can be found HERE.  I can’t tell you how hard it was to find cute dresses that come in Newborn sizes. Little Miss is a petite thing and I have a feeling she will be rocking the newborn size for awhile still.

Overall we had an amazing Easter and I will forever treasure this first BIG holiday with our precious Reagan Marie.  I even managed to squeeze in some time for a little photoshoot with the little miss. The photos turned out beyond anything I could have ever imagined and I love that we captured this special time in her life.  I find myself pulling them out and looking at them in the wee hours of the morning during 2am feedings. I know i’m biased but she is just SOOOOO CUTE!!!!

Happy New Year & My 28th Birthday

HELLO 2016!!!

I can’t believe we are already well into January and 2016 already! With our sweet little gummy bear arriving in a few short weeks my To Do List is longer than ever BUT I am making progress and checking things off the list. Woo Hoo. So far 2016 has been AMAZING for our family!

I know 2016 is going to bring quite a bit of change for our family and therefore my “One-and-Only” New Years Resolution this year is “To have a Year of NO EXPECTATIONS!” My life is about to change is ways that I can’t even imagine. I am still struggling a bit to wrap my head around the fact that we are having a BABY! I don’t know what that is going to feel like and instead of building up the whole experience and setting myself up for failure by trying to be “the perfect mother HAHA,” I am just going to roll with it and take every moment and experience on a day-to-day basis.

This is not to say that I am NOT doing my best to prepare in every way possible, but when it comes to actually being a parent I have some general guidelines that I would like to follow but not much else.  I know for the first few months the baby is going to be just that…a baby…and they sort of set the tone for how the hours and days will pass.  We have some ideas for how we would like our Labor and Delivery to go, in a “general” sense and we are planning on breastfeeding and doing some sleep training techniques with the baby.  But I know several moms that have tried to control the outcome of these things and ended up being extremely disappointed in the whole experience of having a newborn for the first few weeks.  I know it is going to be hard and exhausting but I really want to look back on the first few weeks and let it be whatever it is meant to be.  Therefore NO EXPECTATIONS…within reason of course… for this Mommy-To-Be.

On a completely different note the last day of 2015 was SPECTACULAR!!! We celebrated New Years Eve and my 28th Birthday and everything about the whole day was perfect! We woke up to a gorgeous and frosty morning.  The fog was thick and the sunshine was peaking through the houses! IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!!!! The perfect start to the morning.

IMG_1310

My sweet husband made me my favorite breakfast complete with coffee and roses! It was so special and thoughtful.

IMG_1312

We had lunch with my Mom and Step-Dad which was so special and took our puppies out to the river to run wild and play. It was exactly how I wanted to spend my day…surrounded by my favorite people and fur babies! The snow was gorgeous and the sun was bright. It was freakin’ freezing but we had a blast and it was so much FUN!!!!

IMG_1327

FullSizeRender 19

IMG_1320

We watched the sunset over the snow and then headed out to do some Birthday shopping for ME!!!! Because D-Day (delivery day) is right around the corner I really wanted to get some basics that I know probably won’t be high on my priority list in the coming months. So on my list this year…my super expensive and amazing face wash and moisturizer.  I still need to keep up appearances post-baby. I refuse to be one of those moms who “lets herself go” once the baby arrives.  But again, no expectations, so i’m gonna just roll with it and see what happens.  But my general goal is to still feel somewhat put together on a regular basis.  I was also completely spoiled with my favorite Juicy Couture Perfume, a gorgeous Kate Spade watch which i’m just drooling over, and the best ever MamaRoo Rocker & Bouncer with an Infant Insert.  I am so excited to start busting out the baby goodies we got and figure out how they work.  YIPPPPEEEEEE!

#1 – Kate Spade Watch     #2 – Kiehls Ultra Face Cream     #3 – Viva La Juicy Perfume

#4 – MamaRoo Infant Insert     #5 – Kiehls Ultra Face Wash     #6 – MamaRoo Rocker

Overall it was the perfect way to round out 2015 and ring in the New Year! I am so excited for all the blessings and challenges that 2016 will bring…I can’t wait to “feel” what being a mommy is going to be like! I definitely feel pregnant, but not really like a mommy! We ended 2015 curled in bed with our puppies and kitties, had a mini-Office marathon and were both asleep by 10:3oish.

And just like that, goodbye 2015, hello 2016, and time for everything “baby” related to kick into high gear for this mommy!

Lovin’ the Fall Life

I am in Fall Heaven around here!!! Halloween was amazing, my belly is getting bigger, Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and that means Black Friday aka Baby Nursery Shopping for us!!! I could not be happier or more excited!! I’ve got everything picked out and ready to go.  Just waiting for the deals and sales to start rolling in for Big Time Baby Savings!!! Let me start by saying that the hubby and I are not Black Friday Shoppers AT ALL!! Its not our thing one bit.  I love the idea of saving money but we are not the type to stand outside in the cold for hours to save $50.  However, we will be taking advantage of the savings this year with Black Friday Sales and also Cyber Monday Sales.  Here are some of the deals and steals that I can’t wait to get my hands on immediately after Thanksgiving.

Black Friday Wish List 2015

J. Hunt Lamp      Tufted Rocking Chair      Sophie the Giraffe Teether     Elephant Teether

Eddie Bauer Langley Crib      Honest Company Diapers       Summer Infant Baby Monitor

I also scored this amazing gather doormat for Thanksgiving/November at Target!!! I love it so much and it was on sale! Double score! I love a festive porch even if I am the only one who ever sees it.  I’m really hoping next year we can host Thanksgiving and Christmas! With having the baby, I want his or hers first holidays to be in our home.  So I see some party hosting in our future!!

gather doormat

We just returned from a trip to Seattle to visit my husbands family.  We had such a good time.  We celebrated his grandfather’s 85th birthday and danced the night away at a wedding for a family friend.  It was so nice to see everyone and relax for the whole week.  The golden girls were all together again and we snapped some adorable photos of them.  They always have a blast together along with the adults.  Plus I finally got to show off my pregnant belly…which is getting HUGE these days.  I’m so glad I finally look pregnant and not just fat.

And finally I have spent my last day of vacation putting up Christmas decorations, finalizing all the plans for our Black Friday / Cyber Monday Shopping haul, catching up on laundry from the trip, and cleaning the house.

IMG_1086

It feels so good to be home and to have everything mapped out and ready to go.  This of course means I am almost officially ready for the holidays.  Time to get back into work mode and take the golden girls for a walk around the neighborhood!!! Until next time friends…

Happy New Year…Cheers to 2015

Happy New Year

I’m so happy and excited that 2015 has finally arrived.  I’m ready for a brand new year full of exciting possibilities.  I hope everyone had a fantastic start to the new year and a fun and “SAFE” New Years Eve!!! We had a fun night out with friends and a fantastic meal.  We celebrated the New Year and my Birthday on the dance floor and kissed at midnight!!! It was epic!!! I seem to love my husband more and more as each day passes.

I did manage to squeeze in a quick baking session and busted out some fantastic and adorable Pink Champagne Cupcakes to ring in the New Year!

IMG_6567

My sweet mom got me this fantastic gold bar cart for my birthday.  I had a blast decorating it for our New Years Celebrations and am looking forward to all the fun holidays to come!!!

IMG_6581

I know i’m a little late getting a start on 2015 but I had some work done on my computer.  I’m so happy to say that my lifeline is finally back in my possession and i’m one HAPPY GIRL.  I felt completely restless without my computer and I couldn’t believe how useless I felt.  I really need to work on being “less attached” to my electronic devices!!! Moving on…

I’ve officially decided that this is the year of “NO RESOLUTIONS” for me.   Instead, i’m simply going to work on changing my “mood” in this crazy and wonderful life…

New 2015 Life Motto…

Success

LOVE IT SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!

And this is exactly where i’m at as I made the transition from 26 to 27 years old.  It seems a small shift from one day to the next, and yet I do feel slightly older and my perspective has shifted along with the new year!!!

I’ve been taking it one step at a time around the house cleaning, organizing, and chucking things as much as possible. I did manage to tear down all our Christmas goodies on New Years Day.  I am always so sad to pack them away until next year, but the house always feels clean and huge once they are all down.

Thats all i’ve got for now but I do have BIG plans for the next few months and hopefully some exciting news coming soon.

Cheers to 2015 and focusing on my own “SHIT” and discovering success in the new year!!!

Cheers friends,

Happy December Friends…FaLaLaLa

Happy December my friends!!!!

I’m so flipping excited for Christmas, New Years, and all things SNOW related!!! Bring on a very white Christmas baby!!!

But first a quick Fall roundup…because once again I got a little behind on blogging!!! I’ve definitely been marching to my own beat lately and blogging just wasn’t part of the schedule!!!

I can’t believe I haven’t blogged since mid-November when we were celebrating Miss Jovie’s 5th birthday. I didn’t even cover our Halloween festivities…

So here is a quick recap of all things Halloween and Thanksgiving related with a few of my favorite Football ramblings sprinkled in.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN 2014

– October 31, 2014 –

As much as I love Thanksgiving & Christmas, i’m always a little sad the day after Halloween. It truly is one of my all-time favorite holidays and I plan our costumes all year long.   This year I searched and searched for an awesome family costume!!! Last years SuperFamily was one of my absolute favorites and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to top it.

IMG_0857

So keeping with the tutu theme from last year…I opted for a fun fairytale costume…

The 3 Little Pigs & The Big Bad Wolf

IMG_1440

IMG_1445

IMG_1443

IMG_1449

We had such a blast.  I intentionally left all our lights off so we wouldn’t get any trick-or-treaters and we hit the town with some good friends in our costumes.  As always, I made our costumes and I just want to point out that I AM SO HAPPY with how they turned out.  Although the 2 biggest challenges were finding a freakin’ pair of light pink leggings to wear under my tutu AND making the hubby’s wolf hood by hand.  It was a nice challenge but something I won’t be attempting again!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING 2014

– November 27, 2014 –

This year was incredibly quiet for us over the Thanksgiving holiday. We are getting to that age where families are beginning to spread out and start their own traditions etc.  That means smaller family gatherings, until of course we start our own family. YAY! YAY! YAY!

I was SOOOOOOOO excited to try out a new Thanksgiving Cupcake recipe this year…

INTRODUCING the worlds cutest Pie Inspired Cupcakes…in cute packaging of course!!!! I’m in love…

IMG_6359

I had such a blast passing these beauties out to good friends and family! I’m so incredibly thankful for each and everyone of them!!!!

We started our morning with a wonderful and chilly walk with the golden girls. It was such a gorgeous morning and although it was COLD the sun was shining!!!!

The hubby visited some friends and I watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.  We enjoyed an absolutely amazing dinner with my parents, a few aunts and cousins, and my sweet grandfather.  It was super chill and completely wonderful…and you know there were yummy Mimosas involved so I was a HAPPY girl.

IMG_6373

IMG_6378

We really missed our golden girls however, so we decided to head home early this year.  We curled up in some comfy pajamas, gave lots of Thanksgiving kisses to the girls, and watched our AMAZING Seattle Seahawks destroy the San Fransisco 49ers.  Just one more reason to be extra Thankful this year!!! My friends…it was an absolutely glorious WIN and we were cheering the whole game. GO HAWKS!!

Screen Shot 2014-12-07 at 8.39.10 PM

We have so many reasons to be Thankful this year…way to many to count.  So i’ll be simple and give a shoutout to all our Friends and Family…WE LOVE YOU and are so incredibly thankful for the endless love and support we receive from you all on a regular basis. Not just on thanksgiving, but all year long.

As each year passes, I begin to see the value of our loved ones more and more, and the “stuff” of this life fades into the background. “Stuff” is meaningless and relationships are KEY.  I would like to spend my time investing in people and relationships.

With that, i’m going to wrap some Christmas gifts and put another sprig of Mistletoe up in our house…any excuse to get some “extra” kisses from my amazing hubby this time of year.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, a Happy Holiday, and Happy “Everything!!!!!”

Xo Xo & CHEERS Friends,

Summer Recap – Part 1 “Our 4th of July”

Well Summer is wrapping up and Fall is right around the corner, as in next week!!! My Halloween loving heart is singing and i’ve got Halloween costumes and Football on the brain.  BUT we’ve got a few nice days left of Sweet Summertime and that means a few quick Summer Recaps.  Our Summer was so jammed packed with activities and festivities that I wasn’t able to blog normally throughout the months.  I decided to condense our Summer Fun into 3 recaps starting with our 4th of July!!!

We are big time American Lovin’ Patriots in this house and that means the 4th of July isn’t just our Nations Birthday, but it is THE BEST HOLIDAY of the summer!!!! America, the lake, s’mores, fireworks; whats not to love?!?!?! We typically spend our 4th at either my parents lake house or my husbands family lake house!  This year was EXTRA special in that we threw my sister-in-law, Jessie, her Bachelorette Party & Bridal Shower at the lake house with all her friends and family.  We had a good time to say the least, such a fun weekend!!! 🙂 More details to come on those festivities in the next recap.

My day started with a festive and fun 4th of July Chalkboard!!!! No holiday would be complete in my book without one of these beauties!!!

Next up we enjoyed the beautiful weather and took advantage by hanging out together and showing our festive side by dressing up, the puppies included. Cue the absolutely adorable Red, White, and Blue swimsuits!!!

IMG_4452

The boys cracked us up with their matching RED board shorts, completely accidentally by the way. 🙂

IMG_4450

The girly goldens weren’t having it however, they hated the fun 4th of July headbands we put on them! They seriously need an attitude adjustment when it comes to Americas Birthday!!!! 🙂

We enjoyed the 2nd Annual Haguewood Water Sports Day with a little tubing and fun water activities! Here is my hubby reliving his glory days as a Pro-Tuber…he likes to go fast and can do so many jumps and fun tricks.  Look at how cute he is…I just love him so much 🙂

Next up we have the girls.  We are significantly less coordinated when it comes to tubing, but we had a good time!

Every year all the folks vacationing around the lake will do a festive 4th of July boat parade!!! Totally festive and right up my alley.  The boys were feeling very patriotic and represented our boat well.

We spent the rest of the day eating lots of yummy and tasty oysters, a 4th of July tradition in our family,  and taking cute and goofy photos.

As the sun went down around the lake we watched the gorgeous sunset, cooked up some absolutely FAB s’mores in my S’mores Bar, and enjoyed the endless hours of fireworks going off around us.  Such a gorgeous and beautiful day.

September means Football Season Ya’ll

September 2014

I can’t even begin to express how excited I am to welcome September!!! September really is the unofficial start of Fall and as much as I want to dive right in, we aren’t quite there just yet.  I still have a few items to cross off my  Summer bucket list.

September 2014 - poem

September means so many wonderful things to me…beautiful weather, yummy carmel & apple EVERYTHING, and of course some FOOTBALL!!! My football loving heart has been on pins and needles the last few days waiting for the 2014 Season Kickoff Game – Seattle Seahawks vs. Green Bay Packers. Arghhhhhhh I literally cannot wait!!! My hubby and I have been in full football prep mode including putting up some seasonal football decor, a tasty gameday menu, and some cozy new Seahawks blankets to ring in September and the Big Game! Soooooooooooo excited!

Seahawks Blankets

In honor of September I enjoyed my first Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks the other day.  The epitome of everything FALL in one amazing and delicious beverage!  Fall and Christmas are really the only times I hit up Starbucks due to the hefty $$$ I dish out and the calorie count. Yikes!!! But every sip is totally worth it!!!

Pumpkin Spice Latte 2014

On the docket this Fall i’ve got some yummy new soup recipes that i’m excited to try out and a few fun projects to knock out as the weather gets chilly.  Watch for some fun and festive chalkboard prints that I will be posting shortly. This weekend is supposed to be the last gorgeous and HOT weekend of the summer so i’m excited to wrap up a few summer items and maybe polish off whats left of my summer tan. So CHEERS to a big WIN tomorrow night against the Packers and all the wonders that Fall will bring this September!

Lots of Love & Blessings,

DIY SuperHero “Photo Booth Props”

Hey everyone, i’m back this week with my absolute favorite DIY SuperHero Tutorial!!! I’ve been saving it because I wanted to get all the details just perfect before I published the post.  Back in April, yikes i’m getting behind, I threw my sweetheart a SuperHero themed Birthday Party with all our friends and loved ones.  We had so much fun.  After weeks of hunting and major “sticker shock” I decided to make all the decorations and props for the party.  I literally went to every single “party store” in our area and struggled to find anything SuperHero related!!! I wanted the party to feel fun and have a definite theme, but I didn’t want it to be a little kids party!!! All the “classic” SuperHero icons were included along with bright pops of color and fun reusable decorations!!! I little Pinterest hunting was a failure so I knew the whole party was going to require some major creativity on my part!!!

This FUN Tutorial is for all the awesome Photo Booth Props I made.  Our family had an absolute blast playing around with these little guys and i’m so glad I took the plunge and made all of them! Not gonna lie, this project is really time consuming but I was so happy with how everything turned out. Definitely worth every minute!

I made the following Props:

Captain America Mask & Shield

Iron Man Mask & Arc Reactor

Robin Mask & lOGO

WonderWoman Tiara & Logo

 SuperMan Hair & Logo

Clark Kent Hair & Glasses

Hulk Mask

Batman Mask & Logo

DIY SuperHero Photo Booth Prop Tutorial & Guide

To make all the props I used the following supplies:

Colored Scrapbook Paper or Thick Construction Paper *I used a mixture of scraps that I had on hand and some pieces that I picked up at my local craft store

Ruler

Pencil or Pen

Sharp Scissors

Craft Glue Tape

Bamboo Wood Skewers

Hot Glue Gun

Photos of each SuperHero you want to make

STEP 1 – To get started I used basic white THCIK construction paper and hand drew an outline of each mask or logo I wanted to make.  I used the photo of each character as a general guide.  I cut out each outline shape to check the general size and make sure that the mask was proportionate to the average head size.  The first round I did of the masks were all way too big and looked super funky as a mask.  Lol. By scaling each mask I was able to verify that the end result would look fantastic.

photo 4-2

*Below are the White Templates I made for the Batman mask, Robin mask, and the IronMan mask.

photo 2-9

photo 3-6

STEP 2 – The next step is to place the white template on the colored paper that will ultimately end up being the mask itself.  Trace the outline onto the colored paper and cut out the basic outline for each mask.

STEP 3 – If your chosen mask has multiple layers, aka different colors on the mask, draw and cut out the templates for each additional piece on the mask.  The IronMan mask I made is a good example of this.  Below you can see the Red base and outline and then all the different Yellow pieces that give the mask some real dimension.  Utilize your photo of your SuperHero and do the best job you can to create the look your after.

photo 3-9

STEP 4 – The final step is to assemble all your pieces and masks/logos!  I used basic craft tape to piece together my masks and props.  Next I used a hot glue gun to attach the craft stick to one side of the mask OR to the center of the logo/symbol for each SuperHero.  I wanted to make sure that the stick didn’t show too much in pictures and by having it to the side of the mask and below the logo I was able to avoid that.

Other than taking several hours to make, this whole project was fairly simple.  Patience and a little creativity will go a long way!!! If you have any specific questions about the masks or one SuperHero in particular please feel free to comment below or message me!!!

Next up I made these really CUTE comic book callout props in addition to the SuperHero props!!

For this project I used the same materials as above.

DIY Comic Book Callout Photo Props Tutorial & Guide

Supplies needed include the following:

White Scrapbook or Construction Paper (the thicker the better)

Sharp Scissors

Black Sharpie Marker

Bamboo Wood Screwers

Hot Glue Gun

photo 1-8

STEP 1 – Determine how many “callouts” you want to make.  I cut out a variety of different “comic book” shapes because I wanted several different sayings.  Also, I made a few black callouts and left a couple of black sharpie markers out so guests could write out their own FUN birthday wish to my sweet hubby.  My shapes included the simple oval, a fun starburst, and the different sized rectangles pictured below.

STEP 2 – Write out your message!!! I mimicked a comic book font that I found online and wrote out several “Happy Birthday” messages to my husband!!! I used a black sharpie to write out the message on the callout!

STEP 3 – Using the black sharpie, draw a thin even line on the outside of the callout to add a nice border.  This helps the callout POP and really makes it distinct in photos.

Thats all there is to this fun project!!! You could easily modify this project and adapt it to any character or party theme you want!!! Our family had so much fun playing with these props and we got some absolutely PRICELESS and MEMORABLE pictures.  The whole day was awesome and we will never forget it!
